Gemme Couture is an exclusive jewelry line created from precious and semi-precious stones and fine South Sea and Tahitian pearls, integrated in unexpected settings of gold and leather. The end result is not simply jewelry, but exclusively designed, wearable works of art.

Process

Drawing on design disciplines from New York and Europe, Gemme Couture combines contemporary style with the flair of the East, its richness of color and tradition. With the modern, confident, stylish and sensual woman in mind, Gemme Couture creates luxurious, yet wearable pieces for all occasions.

The outcome is a balance between sophistication and comfort; jewelry that carries from day to night and personifies its wearer’s sense of self and style. Each piece is made by hand, with the beauty of the range showcased in eclectic color combinations that capture the true essence of the stones and pearls.

Having identified a need in the market for a bespoke, hand-made jewelry offering, childhood friends, artists and designers Ivana Okereke and Dejana Cvetkovic founded Gemme Couture in 2009 in Dubai.

The Designer

Ivana Okereke is the designer and creative force behind Gemme Couture. Ivana graduated from Brown University with a BA in art and history, following-on to complete a post-graduate course at the New York Academy of Art. She is a member of the International Gem Society and a GIA graduate.

Ivana is a painter and her love of color has led her to gemstones. She started designing and creating jewelry in New York City in 2001. Ivana, born in Belgrade, has lived in four continents but now calls Dubai her home. She spends her time travelling the East and West allowing her to embrace different cultures and celebrate them through her work.

Her designs are irresistibly feminine, but edgy and both modern and timeless at the same time. She draws inspiration from her own life as well as the organic forms of nature, from people she meets and sees, from art and history and most of all from the beautiful gems she works with.
